Seattle, Washington: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau meets with Governor Jay Inslee to discuss issues relevant to the Pacific Northwest. Trudeau and Inslee are expected to discuss opportunities to further promote regional collaboration on trade, transportation, business development and climate action. Washington state and British Columbia are currently working together through several initiatives such as the feasibility of ultra high-speed rail from Seattle to Vancouver, B.C., strengthening ties between research and education institutions, and collaborating on clean energy and climate action.

Mayor Ed Murray ended his reelection campaign at a press conference surrounded by supporters, staff and his husband Michael Shiosaki. The popular mayor, a democrat, withdrew from a campaign he was easily expected to win amid sexual abuse allegations. He has been in office since 2013 after defeating incumbent Mike McGinn.
