Albuquerque, New Mexico: Facade of the De Anza Motor Lodge along Central Avenue. Built in 1939 on historic Route 66, the motel was decorated with a variety of Native American art and distinctive murals. It was closed for business in 2002 and purchased by the city of Albuquerque in 2003 with the intention of renovation. To date the restoration has not been completed and the property remains closed. It was once used as a location in the television show “Breaking Bad”. The De Anza Motor Lodge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 and is listed on the National Park Service’s Route 66 “Discover Our Shared Heritage Travel Itinerary”.
