Visitors leave the the Berkeley Pit observation deck through an access tunnel in Butte, Montana. The former open pit copper mine, now filled with heavily acidic water which is laden with heavy metals, is one of the largest Superfund sites in America. The site is now a popular tourist attraction with a viewing platform and gift shop.
