Albuquerque, New Mexico: Vintage sign of the Luna Lodge Motel along Central Avenue. Built in 1949, the motel is one of the best examples of a largely unaltered tourist court remaining along historic Route 66 in New Mexico. As one of the last remaining pre-1955 motels in the city, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. The Luna Lodge was rehabilitated in 2013 after sitting largely empty for several years and converted into apartments for low-income individuals. The project was funded with grants from the city of Albuquerque and the National Park Service as part of the Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program.
