Lisbon, Portugal: Padrão dos Descobrimentos monument to the Portuguese Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries. The monolithic sculpture is located at the mouth of the Tagus River where ships departed to explore and trade with India and Orient. On either side of the prow are a number of historical figures from the Portuguese Age of Discovery including Prince Henry the Navigator at its helm.
