Pueblos Mancomunados - Oaxaca

Early morning in the village of Cuajimoloyas in the Pueblos Mancomunados - San Antonio Cuajimoloyas, Ixtlán District, Sierra Norte, Oaxaca, Mexico. The Pueblos Mancomunados are a group of eight communities in the Sierra Norte that have been working together for decades. The villages range in size from a few hundred people to over a thousand. Together, they strive to conserve their forest through projects including sustainable forestry and selective logging, ecotourism, education projects, and the prohibition of private property within their communities.
